2025 Update to San Juan Estuary Restoration Project
South Coast Trout Unlimited is pleased to announce that in November 2024, our chapter received a grant from the California Wildlife Conservation Board to begin a three-year planning program to evaluate current status of the estuary and to ultimately develop a plan for improving and restoring the estuary. We have contracted with a specialized engineering firm, Moffatt and Nichols to lead the planning and SCTU will be working with M&N and several local, federal and state agencies over the next 3 years to develop the plan for restoration.
We welcome community members who frequent this treasured area of the Doheny State Park to visit our site for continued updates and to submit comments on observations made during your visits. If you would like to join our community volunteers for estuary projects or to receive email notifications of volunteer opportunities, please use the form below.

Thank you for your support in this worthy project to enhance the estuary habitat for endangered aquarian species (Steelhead Trout, Tidewater Goby) and to improve and restore the area for all who enjoy this beautiful resource.
